First Visit
We are pleased to welcome you as a new patient to our office. We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our practice and give you an idea of what to expect.
New patients receive a comprehensive examination which includes non-invasive oral cancer screening, evaluation of your medical history, and discussion of treatment needs. Drs. Hoover & Molleti will start by measuring the pocket depth between the tooth and the connective gum tissue with a fine instrument called a periodontal probe. When pockets progress to a depth of 5 millimeters or greater they become too deep to clean with daily at-home oral hygiene techniques. This examination process is detailed and thorough. It requires a fair amount of time to evaluate all of the pertinent information about your periodontal condition. In most cases during this initial consultation, we will be able to provide a diagnosis of your periodontal condition and propose a treatment plan to improve your dental health. For more complex cases, Drs. Hoover & Molleti may need to consult with your physician, general dentist or both.
The doctors will also determine if additional x-rays or scans are needed for proper diagnosis.
Please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your consultation:
- Your surgical referral slip and any X-rays if applicable
- A list of medications you are presently taking
- If you have medical or dental insurance, bring the necessary completed forms. This will save time and allow us to help you process any claims.
- Fill out our online patient registration form before coming in to decrease your waiting time.
